I’ve decided to go with blessing. No matter where I go, if there is writing to be found–be it on street signs, billboards, menus, playbills…you name it–the typos seem to jump off the page and sear themselves into my retinas. It’s a calling, really. A daily challenge. And I love it! Maybe I just like to tell people they’re wrong, I don’t know. I’d like to think it’s just that I’d like someone to do the same for me. For instance, if I were walking around talking about turning on the “spicket” so I could water the grass…I sincerely hope that some kind soul would gently take me aside and set me straight (sorry–this example is one of my all-time pet peeves…the word is SPIGOT, people! Please…for the love of all that is good and sacred…let’s all try and remember that one! But I digress…). Anyway. My point is simply that I love proofreading…and–please allow me a wee bit of pride, here–I’m damn good at it. I troll the web for groan-worthy examples of bad grammar, just to torture myself a little bit each day…I’ll share my favorites with you from time to time, just to spread the joy a bit!
Now, what are you waiting for? Go WRITE, ALREADY!
