Limber Up Before Letting Loose: Prompt #5

writing practice

Hello, my fellow blogging sloggers! I’ve attached this week’s prompt for you to peruse; I hope thus far in this journey that some of these exercises have given you that spark of creativity or motivation to help you put the pen to paper. Let me just say here that, no matter how badly you want to be a writer, sometimes on those days when you’re just not feeling it, you have to do one of two things: either force yourself to sit down in front of that screen and hope that by some stroke of luck, perseverance, or genius, the words will begin to flow…or simply decide to give it up as a lost cause for that day. Now, obviously, the path of least resistance is Option 2. And boy, is it tempting.

But if you can somehow dig deep and dredge up a dite of that inspiration, then grab it and run with it for all it’s worth. That, my friends, is why I’ve been tossing these little gems out into the universe for all who need that little push.

So here it is…prompt number five. As per my usual modus operandi, I’ll post my own response in a few days. Meanwhile…let’s go write something.

Recall a photograph from your life and describe it in a way that suggests (but doesn’t specifically name) why it matters. (Remember the creative writer’s adage, “Show, don’t tell.”) Describe what happened either just before or just after the photo was taken.

You can check out the previous four prompts and my responses below if you are so inclined:
